Who is the Phanie Iceberg??
Stephanie 'Phanie Iceberg' Hagberg was born and raised in Los AngelesCA. She always wanted to give dancing a shot, but never got the opportunity until she started high school in the fall of 2004. She danced on the Glendale High School Dance Drill Team, which is known for their eleven consecutive years of national championship titles at USA Nationals. During her four years on the team, Stephanie trained in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, coed dance, military, and hip hop. She was team captain her senior year and as she neared graduation, was offered a spot on the coaching staff. Stephanie coached the Junior Varsity team, leading them to a national championship title for the third year in a row. Stephanie has danced on ESUI, which is now Family Bizness, since June 2009, and is currently of the FamBiz directors. She is also a principal dancer for Boogiezone’s Breed Dance Company and is a dancer for the Culture Shock Los Angeles Dance Troupe. She also works on various projects such as Audrey Benson's "Encore", CJ Edward's "T2P", Ricky Cole's "Soul Fresh", and Richard Ha's "Sangeles". Stephanie is the front desk assistant at Jayvee Dance and is currently the administrative director for JVD's Teen Groov Street Dance Crew, while also instructing for their tiny tot ballet tap program. She currently is training in all styles of dance, and would like to thank her mother for her never-ending love and support.

Emeroy and Kimberly - Lady

This piece is a collaboration piece I did with one of the Teen Groovers. House wasn't something the team had really explored into yet and I was wanting to teaching it to them for awhile. The moment came up when she asked me to collaborate with her for a house piece she wanted to teach the team. It became a into a partner work routine than just an individual dancer performing a routine. I personally love dancing with a partner because if you guys have the right chemistry, you guys can just feed off each other's energy which just becomes contagious to the audience. Anyways, enjoy the video!

Krump Class!

Excuse me for the crazy eyes!
Here's some footage of my Krump class I teach over at Jayvee Dance Performing Arts Center over at Alhambra, CA! It's foundation Krump, nothing too advanced just yet. I take the students through a series of drills then teach them a routine so they know how to use it in the dance. After learning how to dance through drills and choreography, I start doing something called "popcorning," which is like Simon says but for dance. I call out the moves and they simply put the moves together. This marks the beginning of them beginning their freestyling process in the dance. Soon enough I let go and they take reigns of their own creation. My emphasis for the classes is for the students to create their style of breaking, locking, or krump, not mine.
I recently added the tact of partners in the class. Every class each student has a different partner to work with so they have someone to perform and work with.
It's a fun class and I definitely love teaching it! The students definitely get a workout out of it. The main thing I really ask from them is that they do their best. That's all they really have control over. They don't control how other's dance, but they can control how much effort they put into the dance. =]
I hope you guys enjoy the footage!

If We Ever Meet Again

This is a piece my girlfriend, Stephanie, and I choreographed for the dance crew I direct, [FAM]ily [BIZ]ness. We went to the 24 hour gym around 1AM to begin choreography and were definitely in the groove once we started. We were bouncing ideas and moves right after the other, finishing choreography around 3:30 to 4:00 in the morning. It was definitely a lot of fun putting this routine together. =]

You can check out piece in the routine we performed for both Glendale High Revue and Alhambra Hot Spot!

Different Kind of Lady

A piece I taught to FamBiz for our last set. I heard this song when my friend was just going through his locking playlist and knew I had to get on this song quick! I love Michael Jackson's music, especially his old funky stuff! It's so upbeat and fun to dance to! Hope you guys enjoy the piece!

Hello Again!

Hey everyone! I know this story may seem familiar. But I figured that it may be actually be smart to have sites that are dedicated to different aspects of what I share other than confusing and over-posting one blog with 5 million other topics. SO, with that said, this blog will mainly be dedicated to my work in dance pertaining to routines, classes I teach, shows I've performed at, etc. The other ones will be categorized differently so that way you don't have to do TOO much searching just to look for one thing. And away I go with the posting of the videos!
