Krump Class!

Excuse me for the crazy eyes!
Here's some footage of my Krump class I teach over at Jayvee Dance Performing Arts Center over at Alhambra, CA! It's foundation Krump, nothing too advanced just yet. I take the students through a series of drills then teach them a routine so they know how to use it in the dance. After learning how to dance through drills and choreography, I start doing something called "popcorning," which is like Simon says but for dance. I call out the moves and they simply put the moves together. This marks the beginning of them beginning their freestyling process in the dance. Soon enough I let go and they take reigns of their own creation. My emphasis for the classes is for the students to create their style of breaking, locking, or krump, not mine.
I recently added the tact of partners in the class. Every class each student has a different partner to work with so they have someone to perform and work with.
It's a fun class and I definitely love teaching it! The students definitely get a workout out of it. The main thing I really ask from them is that they do their best. That's all they really have control over. They don't control how other's dance, but they can control how much effort they put into the dance. =]
I hope you guys enjoy the footage!
